Delta Waterfowl and Turtlebox Team Up on Limited-Edition Speaker to Support University Hunting Program
Exclusive “Mallard Box” speaker launch aims to fund efforts to educate future wildlife managers on hunting’s role in conservation; portion of proceeds support Delta’s UHP
Delta Waterfowl and Turtlebox Audio have launched a limited-edition, portable Bluetooth speaker to support Delta’s University Hunting Program. This exclusive “Mallard Box” artist-series version of their popular Gen 2 speaker, featuring a stunning image of a cupped mallard by Idaho artist and hunting guide Ed Anderson, is built to be water-, drop-, and crush-proof, offering rugged durability alongside all-day sound performance on any adventure.
A portion of the proceeds from the sales will directly benefit Delta Waterfowl’s UHP, an initiative established in 2017 to address a significant gap in the education field: It’s estimated that 70% of university students pursuing career paths in wildlife management have little or no prior exposure to hunting, which is crucial to understanding conservation funding and management strategies.
“Delta Waterfowl’s University Hunting Program might be the single most impactful long-term investment we make in the future of hunting,” said Sloan Brown, community marketing director for Turtlebox. “These students are our future wildlife managers and introducing them to hunting during their formative years is a noble effort. We’re honored to support Delta Waterfowl’s efforts and grateful they are committed to protecting and preserving our hunting heritage.”
Delta’s UHP partners with universities across North America, providing students with a comprehensive hunting introduction that includes a hunter safety course, wingshooting instruction, mentored waterfowl hunts, and guidance in game cleaning and cooking. The goal is to inspire these future biologists and policymakers to embrace hunting’s role in wildlife conservation, fostering an appreciation that will carry into their careers, as well as turn them into duck hunters themselves.
The program has grown rapidly since its inception, expanding from 36 universities in 2021-22 to a record 103 universities in 2023-24, with 447 students participating. At full maturity, Delta aims to deliver UHP at all of the nearly 500 universities across North America that offer degrees in wildlife management and related fields.
“This collaboration with Turtlebox brings together two shared passions—quality gear and a deep commitment to conservation,” said Brad Heidel, senior director of corporate relations for Delta Waterfowl. “The limited-edition speaker is not only a fantastic product, but its impact will help shape the future of wildlife management.”
